Ginger is my my all time fav. I’ve always been a fan because of how it settles your stomach, that’s how I got into making my ginger tea.
I stick ginger in my shakes or drinks all the time and I’ll even chew ginger gum ( check out Simply Gum for more deets ).
I bring that ginger gum everywhere. Literally. I have like four packages in my purse right now.
I drink tea all the time. I’m huge on comfort foods or drinks and I find a hot tea to be really comforting and homey feeling and with ginger having benefits of soothing a tummy ( my anxiety goes straight to my stomach ) I was alllll in.
I LOVE making the ginger tea because I can add as much as I want so I really get the ginger flavor. Sometimes the tea bags don’t give that much oomph.
It smells delicious, warms the tummy, and tastes delicious.
Honey ( I use Manuka, but any works )
1 fresh lemon
I normally make a pitcher because I’ll drink it all week long, but you can down size obviously. It’s literally so easy either way. You can throw more or less ginger in, it really depends on how strong you want it to be.
Start to boil your water – I did 5 cups.
While you’re waiting for the water to boil, chop up your ginger. You don’t even have to peel it!!!! But if you do you can just use a vegetable peeler, it works just fine. I just cut up about 3 inches of ginger into little slices.
Once it is boiling throw the ginger in and put the water on a low simmer for about 20 minutes.
How easy is that?
I pour the water directly into my pitcher, no straining necessary. ( The first time I made it I almost poured the entire pot of hot ginger water down the sink through the strainer to get little pieces out… )
I add one entire lemon cut up into the pitcher and I pour myself a glass.
I’ll add the honey, usually about a teaspoon, to my cup of tea not the entire pitcher.
