I wake up very specifically. Major details when risin’ n shinin’
Usually in a huge t-shirt but throw a camera in the room and I’m all about my calvs. Like all of a sudden I’m a fake model that’s 5’3 rolling around my bed. Whatever works, right?
SO. It’s basically a solid routine I have & if I’m away and can’t do it – I feel the difference. Like when I’m traveling. HOLY GOD. The difference is realllll.
It’s almost kind of psycho waking up material.. but it’s a huge game changer so it evens out, I PROMISE. It’s like beauty sleep for the mornings!
Honestly, it sounds high maintenance – well it basically is high maintenance – but you have to pick & choose your battles, you know? So I’m picking high maintenance mornings.
& you probably should, too.
Why? Glad you asked.
+ essential oil diffuser
+ lay in bed for a few minutes – don’t jump right out.
+ leave the phone alone while laying there for a few, BREATHE.
+ stretch/do yoga on your floor for like five minutes. YUP. alone.
+ a cracked window ( if it’s nice out ).
+ hot lemon water.
+ protein packed breakfast.
+ essential oil diffusers
These things are TO DIE FOR. You can pick the essential oil you want ( I usually do a blend like clarity ). The diffuser also works as a humidifier, aroma therapy is great for relaxing, and it smells delicious. I swear by these things. You can use it morning, day, or night. Mine’s always on. You can grab a diffuser at Tj Maxx or amazon ( duh ).
One of my favorite basic oils is peppermint – relieves stomach & headaches and also helps to relax you.
+ laying in bed
This is MAJOR. Stop jumping right out of bed! If you set an alarm – set it a few minutes early to give yourself time to wake up. When I wake up and have to jump right out of bed, my entire day is thrown off. It makes a huge difference to take a few minutes to yourself to kind of vision your day.
+ leave the phone alone
Not touching my phone while I lay in my bed has made a huge difference ( for me, at least ). I let my mind wake up and think about my day without any distractions. I find that I can think better, since that thing is in my hand basically the rest of the day, it’s nice to leave it alone for a quick sec.
Okay, I know. This sounds weird. But you really should try it. Every morning I either stretch ( usually right in my bed.. ) or I get on my floor and do some yoga poses. In my pajamas. It’s like a wake up call for the mind & body, and I don’t feel so tensed up all day.
+ a cracked window
Whenever it’s nice out, I crack my window. The fresh air just makes my mornings that much more relaxing and refreshing. You don’t feel so cooped up and it’s good for the mind. A super refreshing wake up call for the day.
+ hot lemon water
My morning mini cleanse! Check out my post on hot lemon water benefits. Your mornings are nothing without this, seriously. Dramatic but like not really.
+ protein packed breakfast
Duh! It will keep you full and give you energy for the day! I’m huge into eggs, so I usually make those quick and get going. Or I’ll typically just have a piece of toast with peanut butter or some oatmeal with coconut oil in it. I’m all about quick meals – quick & healthy is key for me.
I try to do these every morning!
& if I’m traveling and away, I’ll try to at least do a couple of them so that I feel better starting my day. I don’t take my diffuser with me when I travel so I’ll take the oils and put them on my wrists or wherever needed.
Let me know of anything else you guys do – I’m always up for new ways to boost the good moods!
