I’m going to spill my favorite smoothie recipe to you guys (with an added ingredient I had no idea about until I met BA).
It’s my post workout smoothie. Sounds legit, right? HA. But for real – it has ingredients that are amazing for inflammation & muscles – yum.
I’m OBSESSING over smoothies lately because I suck at eating (remember ?). I normally drink one for breakfast packed with protein, veggies, and all the vitamins I take. It’s a super easy way to make sure you’re getting enough of the goods in you!
I’ve just been on a smoothie kick lately, especially after reading the moon juice cookbook. Check out why moon juice isn’t just a fad & you’ll get all the deets. I rave about that book – it’s so worth the read.
Can we chat about yoga really quick?
Do you guys go? I used to go more than I have been. I LOVE doing yoga at home and I try to do it randomly during the week, even if it’s super quick. It really really really helps with my anxiety. So I’ve been thinking a ton about getting back into some classes and not just at home to kind of.. meditate? I guess. I need to really concentrate on easing my mind. Do you guys go a lot? Thoughts thoughts.
I’m trying to get myself into natural things to ease anxiety/a tornado mind. (You know, a hectic mind that never ‘effing stops.)
One day I want to run on the treadmill and spin my ass off, the next I want to meditate. Being a girl is tough huh? Can’t make up your mind on ANYTHING.
It tastes delicious – obviously that’s key. And it contains ingredients that are good for inflammation, muscle growth, & recovery after exercise.
So much YES.
WHAT YOU NEED:
+ TART CHERRY JUICE ( 1 TBSP )
+ BEE POLLEN ( 1 TBSP )
+ COCONUT WATER ( 1/2 CUP )
+ SPINACH ( HANDFUL )
+ BANANA ( I USE HALF )
+ PROTEIN POWDER ( 1 SCOOP )
+ BLEND AWAY!
I know, these might not be stuff you have stashed away in your cabinets.. but I really really really suggest you get them there ASAP! They are key ingredients for me after working out now, and I’m loving them. I’m all about taste, too. I used to take a shot of the tart cherry juice (BA introduced me), but it’s so much better in a smoothie mixed with other ingredients (very.. tart).
Let’s talk about why it’s SO GOOD for you.
+ TART CHERRY JUICE REDUCES INFLAMMATION, HAS A TON OF ANTIOXIDANTS, AND PROMOTES WEIGHT LOSS. IT’S ALSO HIGH IN POTASSIUM, GREAT FOR MUSCLE CRAMPING
+ BEE POLLEN IS KNOWN TO SUPPORT STAMINA AND MUSCLE GROWTH/DEFINITION PLUS IT’S GOOD FOR RECOVERY AFTER EXERCISING
+ COCONUT WATER CONTAINS A TON OF POTASSIUM SO IT HELPS WITH BLOATING, MAINTAINING WATER BALANCE IN THE BODY, AND REDUCES MUSCLE CRAMPING
+ SPINACH HELPS WITH INFLAMMATION. AND OBVIOUSLY CONTAINS EVERYTHING GOOD, AS YOU KNOW. VITAMINS A, C, E, K, B6, ETC.
+ BANANA. POTASSIUM.. AGAIN! HELPS WITH MUSCLE CRAMPING. ADDS FLAVOR, TOO.
+ PROTEIN POWDER – I LOVE VEGA ONE PROTEIN POWDER BECAUSE IT CONTAINS PROTEIN ( DUH ), PROBIOTICS, ANTIOXIDANTS, GREENS, VITAMINS, AND FIBER. WIN-WIN ALL AROUND. (MAKE SURE YOU READ INGREDIENTS!)
You can obviously mix it up and add a nut butter if you’re feeling it. (FUN FACT: for the longest time I thought a ‘nut butter’ was a different type of almond butter.. I didn’t know it meant like any nut. hi.)
The french vanilla vega one protein powder mixes really well with flavors for this specific smoothie – not too much mixed flavors, you know? Keeping it simple.
ENJOY. Let me know how it goes! Any other post-workout ingredients you guys are working with?
I’m currently drinking magnesium powder in my night time tea to try and actually sleep tonight, maybe? Catch a zzz or ten. HA. (sigh)
night guys. chat tomorrow
