I’ve never been a planner until I started blogging.
& when I started dating BA.
He is like Anal Annie about time and being prepared. No lie he asks me ten times if I have my wallet before we leave. (SIIIIGH.)
Honestly though if it wasn’t for him I would end up at half the places I go to an hour late & license-less, card-less, everything-less.
There have been times when he actually had to grab my bag off the back of my chair at the restaurant when we were leaving because I so casually get up and walk out without it.
::also forgot my brain at home::
I’m just not.. prepared? For like, anything. Even to leave a restaurant. It’s kind of nuts, you guys.
For instance – last week when I was taking the subway I got on the outbound train instead of the inbound train because I was running down the stairs a littttle bit behind time.. little bit.. and texting. So, yeah.
That’s something I need to work on.. but I’ve totally transitioned into a planner from a non-planner.
WHICH IS A HUGE STEP FOR ME.
Once I started blogging it really taught me how to get my shit together. & I love that.
There is just something about having a system for yourself. I feel like you get SO MUCH more done than you would if you didn’t set up a plan to do it.
If you haven’t tried writing out lists, you need to hop the ‘f on that bandwagon ASAP. It makes you feel so organized and put together. And simply checking shit off that you completed just makes you feel some type of way.
There are some days where I don’t prep myself (obviously) & I notice the difference IMMENSELY. & I’m not using that word to exaggerate. Like, it’s insane.
I go to bed with a wired brain, anxiety, and a feeling of.. “I have so much shit to do still.”
It’s just a clusterfuck of a day.
SO with that being said – I’m turning into a serious planner.
I will probably always be late to shit and forget my wallet at home but that’s a transformation for another day. You can’t win ’em all.
One thing I’ve gotten really, really into planning & prepping myself for is my food for the next day.
& I’m SO not one of those people who can cook all day Sunday and have every meal for the week set out in their fridge.
How am I supposed to know what I will want at 1pm tomorrow? I don’t even know what I want in an hour. I can’t make that type of commitment, you know?
So.. I prep differently.
My all time favorite prep trick is to prepare my smoothies the night before. I literally put all of the solid ingredients into the blender and leave it in the fridge with the liquid ingredients next to it.
That way when I wake up I don’t have to even think about making it. I mostly do this with my post workout smoothie because I know I’ll want it after my workout
Doing that has also been helping me with time. Like, MAJOR. So that’s a plus.
I am a huge ass snacker. I snack all.day.long.
So I’ve come up with a way to help me plan my days without going batshit crazy and spending an entire Sunday in the kitchen while also giving me leeway & options.
+ LIKE I SAID, PREPARE YOUR SMOOTHIES. HUGE GAME CHANGER. & HAVE A SHELF JUST FOR SMOOTHIE INGREDIENTS SO IF YOU DON’T PREPARE IT COMPLETELY, YOU AT LEAST HAVE ALL THE THINGS YOU NEED FOR IT TOGETHER.
+ ALWAYS HAVE HARD BOILED EGGS IN YOUR FRIDGE TO GRAB ( IF YOU LIKE THEM, OBVIOUSLY ). A QUICK, EASY SNACK THAT IS SIMPLE TO MAKE & PACKED WITH NUTRIENTS.
+ PACK YOUR PURSE WITH HEALTHY SNACKS. YOU SHOULD SEE MINE – IT’S LOADED WITH RANDOM SNACKS. THAT WAY I ALWAYS HAVE OPTIONS!
+ HAVE PROTEIN DRINKS IN YOUR FRIDGE JUST INCASE. THEY COME IN HOT WHEN I DIDN’T PREPARE A SMOOTHIE & I’M RUNNING LATE. I FOUND THE KOIA DRINKS AT WHOLE FOODS & HAVE BEEN LOVING THEM. THEY TASTE GOOD WITHOUT HORRIBLE INGREDIENTS. AN EASY ON-THE-GO WAY TO GET PROTEIN IN YOU.
+ MAKE ENOUGH TO HAVE LEFTOVERS. THIS IS HUGE FOR ME. & HAVING LEFTOVERS DOESN’T MEAN THE SAME MEAL, YOU CAN HAVE LEFTOVERS AND MAKE DIFFERENT THINGS! FOR INSTANCE – QUINOA CAN BE IN YOUR SALAD, OR AS CEREAL THE NEXT MORNING. BE CREATIVE, YOU’LL PREPARE MORE!
+ GET CONTAINERS. A LOT OF THEM. YOU CAN PACK YOUR FOOD AND HAVE IT ALL SET FOR THE NEXT DAY. AND THEY’RE GREAT FOR ON-THE-GO.
I totally understand not being able to know every single meal for the week and not having the time (or patience..) to prep them.
That’s why I go about it in a ‘snacking’ way. & the leftovers deal is huge – seriously. I’ll make a shitload of quinoa and use it for numerous things during the week. Like I said.. you can do coconut quinoa at night and quinoa cereal the next morning. Boom, boom. Make it easy for yourself!!!
I also try to eat every 2 hours, too. So the packed purse helps with that.
SOME SNACKS MY PURSE ALWAYS HAS:
+ A BANANA – ALWAYS
Ok.. I know. I’m snack obsessed.
But those are my favorites. Easily packable in the purse, too!
