[currently: writing at a cafe in charlestown]
How are you doing? HAPPY SUNDAY. It’s finally about 60 degrees in Boston so I’m a happy ‘effing girl. Remember the anxiety walk through post from the other day? I mentioned how at night and in the winter I have more anxiety.
I NEED THAT VITAMIN D.
I just feel.. better. Like, the sun is basically God to me. Plus fresh air – obviously. If you read the anxiety post you know all the deets on that.. open every single window, please (major eye roll).
OK so anyway..
The weekend was pretty chill over here. I did a lot of yoga, a little shopping with BA, and some major work on upcoming things for CIC. SO EXCITED for that by the way. Stay patient babes.. I’ll spill the beans soon I promise!!!
[BA taste testing for CIC – follow on snap for all the bts fun HA]
I also found a bomb ass snack this weekend. You know how I feel about snacks (another eye roll).
I die over them (dramaaa). So when I go to a food store I am on the LOOK OUT. Basically a snack freak detective.
Have you guys heard of these things? I’ve seen them around but never really looked into it because I already eat a lot of almonds and cashews throughout the week. But come to my surprise.. they aren’t nuts.
I was like hmm.. ok ok. Confused. Kinda. But I need to know more. Details, ASAP.
They’re actually a small root vegetable full of antioxidants. Um.. hi. Where have you been all of my life?
According to this article :
Another tiger nut benefit is the ability to fight bacteria in the human body. One study published in Ancient Science of Life found extracts of Cyperus esculentus actually had bacteria-fighting effects on several dangerous human pathogens, including salmonella and E coli. (5)
Cyperus esculentus is also on a list of several dietary plants that can be used against common bacterial infections, especially for those who have developed antibiotic resistance in third-world countries. (6)
Wherever you live, it’s important to fill your diet with immune system boosters like tiger nuts. Bacteria-fighting food helps you fight off infections and viruses so don’t neglect this important part of nutrition.
ALSO (same article):
One serving of tiger nuts has a whopping 10 grams of fiber, providing you with almost half of your daily requirement! Fiber is an important, if misunderstood, part of nutrition. When it isn’t absorbed by your digestive system, it passes through your system, capturing toxins, waste, fat and cholesterol particles and expelling them from your system.
Fiber helps you consistently feel full, maintain digestive health, prevent heart disease, lose weight and prevent diabetes. That’s good news for tiger nut fans, considering they contain more fiber per serving than many other recommended high-fiber foods, like quinoa or chia seeds.
I mean, I was all for them the second I saw prebiotic superfood on the package.. but keep it coming.
basically, they contain a shit ton of antioxidants, they are a great source of fiber, plus they provide antibacterial and prebiotic benefits.
& they taste really good. I’ll be honest because.. like.. why the hell wouldn’t I be? They are a little tough.. like when you are chewing a ton of them your jaw starts to hurt. LOL. I mean you have to be putting a handful in your mouth at a time for that to happen (I was starving).. but they have ones that come sliced so I’m guessing those are easier to chew. But honestly, I didn’t care. I liked them so much I put my jaw to work.
It says you can soak them, too. But popping a few as a snack won’t kill you. Promise.
The benefits are just outrageous for a quick eat or on your salad or however you guys eat food.
I’m a sucker for sneakers and sun dresses. HUGE sucker. The most comfortable outfit you can think of, but you can make it looks super cute. (I’ve been finding major good priced ones at tobi.com).
[telling BA how red doesn’t fit our apartment color scheme (but it’s fine) while posing to show off my backpack because I’m majorly obsessed.]
I have a bag with me 24/7.
It was normally a purse, something big and snack filled. BUT – recently I got a pink herschel backpack and I CAN NOT EVEN DEAL.
It’s the cutest ‘effing thing. I literally wear it everywhere like a five year old going to school. I don’t even care. It fits all of my shit and is so travel worthy.
They also have white which I’m tempted to go order after I write this post.
happy sunday my babes, chat tmr
