If you read CIC regularly, you know how I feel about the sun.
I need it, basically..
It makes everything.. just.. better. Agreed?
I am a strong believer in SAD (seasonal affective disorder). Like, HARDCORE believer. And living in New England it can get a bittttt.. dreary.. and really shitty sometimes. (sigh, sigh, sigh, huge sigh.)
So.. I’ve come up with a ‘guide’ on what I’m doing on a rainy day to get me through. Obviously working and blogging, always. But sometimes down time is needed, and that usually involves getting fresh air for me.
But when the devil is outside I have to make some adjustments HA.
Being a vitamin D addict – I’ve prepped and planned VERY accordingly for those gross weather days.
I’ve got your rainy days covered, don’t you worry your pretty little face.
:: at home workouts ::
These are the best when it’s rainy and gross because you don’t have to get ready AT ALL. You can look as shitty as the weather and still get a kick-ass workout in.
(you can find anytime anywhere workouts here)
:: learn to like the kitchen ::
Uh-huh, I said it. Get your butt in the kitchen and start to learn new things. I am NOT one for prepping food all day long (remember prepping without going batshit?) but I have actually gotten into baking because it has helped with my anxiety (read my anxiety walk through for more). Bake cookies, make new meal, read some cook books, learn some new fun facts. It’s actually SUPER interesting!
:: books books books ::
GET LOST IN A BOOK. I mean, I could go on for days. Start reading – even if it’s a magazine! I find so much information in magazines – so get a bunch and have them on your coffee table for days like this.
:: meditate ::
It’s the perfect excuse to get yourself to stop thinking so much. Get your yoga mat, turn everything off, and watch a meditation video. You can find them all over YouTube. Or just do your own. Maybe some basic stretches, maybe a legit mediation session. Just get your mind off of everything for a bit.
:: learn a new fitness routine ::
What else are you going to do? (Sleep.. I know, I know.) But this is a great way to get yourself into something new that you’ve been meaning to try. Go on YouTube and learn something new – do a half hour of pilates or yoga or a dance workout (yes, I’ve tried these and they are awesome LOL). Whatever it is that you like or want to try, do it!
:: detox your closet ::
This is one of my favorite times to go through my closet and throw out things I’m never wearing or using. You will feel SO accomplished at the end of the day instead of like a couch potato bum.
:: skin care ::
:: plan your week ::
This is my favorite now. I love to plan. I used to HATE it. But on days where you can’t get outside, you can get your calendar and plan out your week ahead! It’s so relieving knowing what you need to get done and when you are going to do it.
:: rest, duh ::
If you’ve been overworking your body, maybe it’s a good thing the weather sucks right now. TAKE A BREAK. After yoga, of course. HA. Just kidding. If you feel your body is over doing itself, seriously take the day to relax. It isn’t always a bad thing.
Anything else you guys are doing?
I’m going to go watch Southern Charm..(whatever).. and then dig into a new book.
chat tmr, babes!
