Hey hey hey
How are you guys doing?
I’ve been thinking A LOT lately (surprise surprise) and honestly, it’s been exhausting.
My mind does not stop. EVER. Are you guys the same?
I have been so tired the past couple of days because I haven’t given my body or mind any time to just chill the f out.
I think it’s super important to relax. And I’m not the best at it.
It sounds weird, right? But I just can’t get my mind to shut off. Even when BA and I watch a movie, I never actually watch the movie. It’s SO WEIRD. My mind just keeps going onto other things. He has this joke that I hate movies but it’s really just that I can’t shut myself off for a minute..
That’s just how my body works, though. I’m constantly going. And I like it like that, to be honest. I like to be busy because it helps reduce my anxiety. But I also need to learn how to relax because it’s super important for the body.
It’s a blessing and a curse, really.
So I’ve started to really take time for myself and turn my mind off. I actually had BA do yoga at home with me the other night and he even said it was relaxing, which I was shocked by.
I also strongly believe that it’s super important to surround yourself with people who simply just have good vibes.
If I could even begin to explain how much I enjoy being around BA, I would. But I can’t because it’s almost unexplainable and I would go on for days.
With family, friends, boyfriends, etc. just surround yourself with people who you know have good vibes for themselves and FOR YOU. No one has time to be around people who don’t bring them up in some way. Just no, simply put.
Ok anyway, now that you know how I feel..
Let’s get into some details, shall we?
I’ve come up with ways to really chill out, relax, and shut my mind off for a few that I think you’ll totally be into and up for!
I know this sounds kind of boring and like blah.. but I am so beyond serious when I say it actually helps your mind. Give yourself 20 to 30 minutes a day to just sit on your yoga mat and meditate. Go to a class if you want to! I swear by it. It has taught me how to turn my mind off even when doing other things now.
+ START READING
Whether it’s magazines or books, read! It helps shut your mind off. I read every night before bed. It completely zones you out. I also love a good magazine, your mind will start to chill, I swear.
+ MAKE A COZY SPOT
For real, make a spot that you love to snuggle up in. We have this corner on our couch that I put a huge fluffy pillow on with one of my favorite blankets and it’s my go-to spot. I think it’s easier to relax knowing you have a spot and comfort zone to go to.
+ CHILL OUT WITH THE CAFFEINE
I know this can be hard, and I’m not saying you have to completely delete it from your life, but I have stopped drinking caffeine for only a week now and the difference is insane. I’m so much more relaxed and I’m actually sleeping at night, which I have a very hard time doing. Drink some calming tea instead, or stop your caffeine intake before the afternoon.
+ MAKE A SET TIME TO RELAX
This is HUGE. You need to have a time set out a few times a week where you sit down and do whatever it is you need to do to shut your mind off. Whether it’s the meditation, the reading, whatever. Have it in your calendar. My planner says “YOGA PM WITH BA” on Tuesday and Thursday this week. That way, it becomes a habit and something that’s implanted into my schedule.
It’s crazy how hard it can be to actually relax, isn’t it? So I hope this helps at all, what are you guys doing to chill out?
I’m always up for new ideas, I’ll take anything I can get to turn this mind off (sigh). Also, I’ll get more into meditating soon. I feel like a post on that is necessary, right?
Alright alright babes. I’m actually trying acupuncture tonight to try to relax and reduce anxiety, follow on snap for details!
