How are you guys doing?
I’m heading to New Orleans this weekend for my brothers graduation and I’m SO EXCITED.
It’s one of my favorite places.. whose been?
First of all, the vibe is just amazing. The second you get off the plane you can feel the positive energy. It’s nuts.
The food? I can’t even begin. It’s a place I totally let go of my healthy eating habits and eat like shit, basically. I mean.. if you’re visiting New Orleans, actually visit New Orleans. You can’t do it half ass, you know? EAT.
It’s a whole different world down there. Kind of like New York but in a totally different way.
OKAY so yeah I’m excited. ONLY downside about traveling – I hate packing & I’m a last minute type of person. Who actually likes it? (If you do, please tell me WHY.. motivation is always good.. UGH.) I literally dread the day I have to pack and put it off until last minute (surprise surprise!). I think about for a week straight but won’t start doing it. It’s like a mind game?
And if I try to start early, my clothes are all over the place for a week and I go through the bag about a million times to change the outfits I packed. I get super indecisive, it’s INSANE. There has been times I couldn’t fall asleep because I kept thinking about the outfits I packed and I actually got out of bed at 2am to change them. LIKE, WHAT?
The only thing I have really set out and planned is my purse (or backpack..). It always has my go-to travel essentials in there (which are VERY important).
There’s a few I always, always, always have with me. Some of you may know that my purse is always filled and prepared (usually with snacks). That’s something I take VERY seriously HA. For real, my purse is like my bathroom. I have anxiety if it isn’t filled with my key essentials – essential oil, gum, floss, snacks, teas (just incase!), band-aids, blah blah blah the list goes on and on AND ON.
I swear the thing is heavier than I am some days.
ALRIGHT. So when traveling, I have a top list of essential ‘things’ I take with me. And by essentials, I mean things that have practically saved my life while traveling or flying.
+ PEPPERMINT ESSENTIAL OIL
Always. Always. Always. It calms the stomach and honestly, it’s a comfort smell for me now. I don’t go anywhere without it – especially an airport. I’ll rub a little bit on my stomach or wrists when traveling!
+ SIMPLY GUM
Ginger, duh. It’s something I always have! It also calms the stomach and I think chewing gum takes my mind off of things sometimes, it keeps me busy? LOL. And ginger is my go-to for life.
+ A BANANA
BA used to make fun of me because I always have a banana in my bag. It’s just a super easy snack to always have, it is healthy, and it fills you. I eat a lot of bananas when traveling because of how convenient they are to have with you.
+ COCONUT WATER SPRAY
Ok, I’ve talked about this stuff before. I use it A TON when traveling because it really freshens up your skin. I spray it all over my face when I’m just getting somewhere. I swear it like wakes you up, and you also feel cleaner! The rose hibiscus is a fav.
(TIP: mini travel bottles are key when flying!)
+ MAGAZINES OR A BOOK
ALWAYS. I love magazines because they really keep you occupied, plus they actually have cool information if you get good ones! And I just always have a book in my purse. They are a major travel accessory for me.
+ EYE MASKS
I do these on a plane sometimes. Am I insane? LOL. I feel so swollen & like I have horrible complexion when I fly (it’s SO annoying) so I try to prevent all of that ish. I bring eye masks with me and literally use them during a flight.. it’s a game changer. Promise.
+ SEA SALT HAIR SPRAY
I always have this in my purse, always (this kind). Especially when flying (they have travel sized sprays, don’t worry). I feel like my hair gets kind of.. out of place when flying? I don’t know. I just think sea salt spray makes a messy but cute look and that’s key when you have no time to do your hair!
Now, don’t get me wrong.. my bag is filled with a lot more shit than that.. but those are things that don’t change when I travel.
They have all come in VERY hot at some point. Very, very hot.
(Especially the eye masks – no joke.)
I’m a huge fan of the sea salt spray as well. I really hate doing my hair when I’m traveling (or like, any day?). I’ll tell you this quick fact but don’t judge – my best friend and I didn’t wash our hair once the week of the fourth last year and we went in the ocean and everything else. We just let the salt take over and do it’s thing. That’s kind of where I got the idea of using sea salt spray for trips. I’m SO lazy when it comes to hair..
WHATEVER. It works!
What are you guys bringing/using, what am I forgetting!? Any cool travel tips?
