Hey hey hey – a quick recap of Italy because.. ITALY.
I’m not a huge fan of planes – they actually give me major anxiety (surprise surprise) so the flight to Rome from Boston didn’t sit well – but I’d hop back on that thing in a second, no questions asked. Italy is a place that I can’t describe to its full potential, and pictures don’t do it justice, but I’m going to try my best, because I feel the need to let anyone know who hasn’t gone over there that they MUST place it on their bucket list.
I didn’t expect to fall in love over there – considering I was venturing over with BA – but let me just tell you, Italy steals your heart right out of your chest. You fall hard.
Stay – we stayed in Rome for only a night then went to Capri where we stayed at the Grand Hotel Quisisana. I would recommend Rome to anyone, and I actually want to go back to see more. I, personally, didn’t think I was going to absolutely love Rome, but seeing all it has to offer in person is simply amazing. It’s so much different than the movies (trust me lol), so much more… real? The history is just jaw dropping. I loved Capri. The most simple, beautiful place I’ve ever seen. And the Quisisana? A.m.a.z.i.n.g. It has comfortable rooms with an awesome pool area. The gym (which I didn’t use much) was also awesome to have handy (again – didn’t use much). I’ve heard that staying in villas over there is super fun – so that’s on the list.
Eat – EAT EVERYTHING. Literally. I’m not a huge tomato lover, and I actually liked them over there. Everything is so fresh, tasting so much better than anything I’ve ever had. Of course, I had some doubts about caving and eating everything over there because I didn’t want to come back.. fluffier. I ate, fully, and came back no fluffier – I swear. You walk and swim so much that it doesn’t even matter. So, if you have plans (or are planning) to get your butt over there – eat. eat. eat. I had a soft spot for the lemon restaurant – Da Paolino Restaurant.
Play – do everything you can! I’m not exaggerating here – if you can do a boat day, do it. If you can walk around all day, do it. If you can go to the pool, do it. Fontelina Beach Club was a hit – you have your own little spot on the rock (a comfy one) with loungers and towels annnnd you get to drink rosé then jump into the Mediterranean. So, yeah.
My favorite part – just walking around. I loved seeing how people live, how they shop, how they eat. It’s so interesting to me to watch different lifestyles. The houses are just beautiful, too. I highly recommend walking around with no plan one day and finding small restaurants for lunch or shops with the prettiest sandals or drinks you’ve never heard of.
